Message from the Director
When funding shifts take place statewide and throughout counties, non profit agencies have to weather a myriad of change. Unable to rely on funding from traditional sources, agencies must think creatively. When more and more support services for children and families are being eliminated, it is the private sector that stands up to the challenge.
Inner Circle wrestles daily with a variety of tragedies experienced by children and families. We continue to retain our optimism that the best work to be done, is work related to improving people’s lives. When we witness a child who has been worrying about his parents who are in jail, or unemployed, or suffering from addictions learn to cope and improve in school, we note progress. When we see a family reunited after months of separation, we see progress. And when we finalize an adoption and know that a child will have a permanent and forever family, we know we have achieved something priceless.
Legislative Bill AB 12 allows foster care youth up to age 21 to benefit from ongoing assistance. We know that to remain healthy, stay safe, and eventually earn a living wage requires some level of self-sufficiency. By allowing youth to remain in foster care, we can add to our list of successes. The longer a person has support, love, affection and security the better they are when ready to launch into adulthood and independence.
In order to respond to the needs of our clients, Inner Circle continues to need financial help and gifts from others. If you are able to offer a donation, volunteer your time, or provide a service please contact me at (818) 988-6300. Engaging others in the work we do is one of our greatest goals. You may not be able to foster or adopt a child right now or provide an unconditional commitment, but you can demonstrate you care in another significant and meaningful way. Begin now by contacting us and we will provide you with many suggestions.
Let’s make 2010 a rewarding and remarkable year.
